SHIMLA: With the toll of migratory waterbirds rising to over 1,800, and almost half of them being endangered bar-headed goose visiting the Pong wetlands, the Himachal Pradesh wildlife authorities on Monday suspected avian influenza as the cause.

PANAJI: The Goa administration on Tuesday banned transportation and entry of birds and eggs from neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka in wake of the bird flu scare.
The orders issued by the North and South Goa District Magistrates come into force with "immediate effect".

BAGHDAD: A bird flu outbreak has been detected in Iraq's Salahudin province, authorities said, adding that all protective measures have been taken to contain the spread of the virus.

SAS NAGAR/ CHANDIGARH:Exhorting the people not to panic with the reports of a suspected case of bird flu being reported from SAS Nagar, Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said that the administration is on full guard and regular sampling is being done on daily basis to keep a tab on suspected cases of avian influenza.

NEW DELHI: Cases of avian influenza or bird flu have been confirmed in 10 states only, as on Wednesday, while further cases of unnatural mortality of birds have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal and four districts of Jharkhand, an official statement said.

BHOPAL: Around 1,500 crows and wild birds have died so far in 41 districts of Madhya Pradesh since the outbreak of bird flu. There have been confirmed cases of bird flu across 18 districts in the state. As many as 334 samples collected from various districts have been sent for testing to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal.

JAIPUR: Bird flu has spread its tentacles to 15 of the 33 districts in Rajasthan, with over 3,000 birds found dead in the state till date, officials said on Tuesday. Jaipur zoo has been closed following the death of four birds.

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Zoo, known as the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, has shut down all bird enclosures following confirmation of bird flu in samples collected from the Kanpur zoo.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Animal Husbandry Department on Monday confirmed that all the samples sent to a laboratory in Bhopal have tested positive for bird flu or the avian influenza.

CHANDIGARH: In view of the need to increase surveillance for Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), the Punjab Government has restored the Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RDDL), Jalandhar of Animal Husbandry Department for the testing of such suspicious cases which was earlier being used for COVID-19 Testing.

KANPUR: The Kanpur zoo has been shut down for 15 days after samples of fowls found dead in the zoo, tested positive for bird flu.
Four birds were found dead in the zoo premises on January 6 and the samples were sent to Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal under high security. The reports on Saturday confirmed the presence of H-5 strain bird flu in the dead jungle fowls.

PATNA: Scare of bird flu (avian influenza) has gripped Bihar after a large number of chicken and crow were found dead in in Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, respectively, on Saturday.

NEW DELHI: Bird flu has been confirmed in seven states of the country so far, namely Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, while test reports of unsual death of birds received from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Delhi are awaited, the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said on Saturday.

AMARAVATI: At a time when the Andhra Pradesh authorities have been battling the Covid-19 pandemic, the fresh scare of bird flu that has spread its tentacles across various states in the country has pulled down the consumption, price and sale of chickens in the state.

CHANDIGARH: The state of Punjab is fully safe from Bird Flu till date but the Government is all set to tackle any situation due to some Bird Flu cases in adjoining states. The Punjab Chief Secretary Mrs. Vini Mahajan held a meeting with the senior officials of the ten concerned departments in this regard today at the Chief Secretary Office. Issuing strict instructions to all the concerned departments, the Chief Secretary directed all to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Bird Flu in the state.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said that no case of bird flu has been reported in the state so far, but the state government has taken all precautionary measures to deal with any situation. While addressing a press conference today here at Punjab Bhawan to list the achievements of the departments under him, Mr. Bajwa said that the people who eat eggs and meat do not need to be afraid, they just need to eat these products cooked properly.

JAIPUR: After Rajasthan confirmed a bird flu outbreak in the desert state, 140 more crows have died in six districts of state, official said.
Of these, 35 crows died in Sawai Madhopur, 53 in Bikaner, 22 in Jhalawar, 17 in Baran, nine in Pali and seven in Banswara.

KOZHIKODE(Kerala):Three days after the presence of bird flu was confirmed in two areas of Kerala's Kozhikode district, local villagers on Tuesday found a good number of bats and crows lying dead there.
